“Friends” is no longer available for the Netflix subscribers in the US. The show has been taken off from streaming service on 31st December 2019. Once the clock struck midnight, Netflix stopped streaming friends. Netflix has lost the rights of the show to HBO Max.
Friends is amongst one of the most popular series on Netflix. The series originally aired from the years 1994 to 2004 and it became a massive hit during its original airing. The show continued to gain the love of you was even in the past few years. Netflix has dropped over dollar hundred million to keep the series running tell 2019 but unfortunately, they do not have the rights to stream the series from the year 2020.
Currently, the series is not streaming on any of the streaming platforms. Although, all the 236 episodes are going to stream again from May 2020 on Warner Media entertainment upcoming streaming service called HBO Max. The new streaming platform is expected to cost $ 14.99 per month for subscriptions.
In July 2019 WarnerMedia the company which owns HBO Max outbid Netflix to secure the streaming rights of friends with the helping dollar 500 million deal.
There are also rumors that the new streaming service is also planning for a Friends reunion special to celebrate the 25th anniversary of this superhit series. Has been speculation that the lead star cast of the series including Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, and Matt Leblanc are going to be a part of this special reunion.
Viewers can continue to watch the episodes on TV and can even opt for DVD. The series can also be rented or purchased through digital retailers such as Google Play, Amazon prime video, Apple iTunes and Vudu.
