Singer Sam Hunt is accused of driving under the Influence on Thursday. He was found drunk when stopped by the police in East Nashville for the wrong way.
The 34 years old country singer is known for his hits “Body Like a Back Road” and “Drinkin’ Too Much.”
The police were notified about a driver who was seen traveling south in the northbound lanes of Ellington Parkway near Ben Allen Road. When the police checked the mentioned area, they located the car going the wrong way. The driver was noticed going haywire within the lanes which had led to traffic chaos.
Police identified the accused as Hunt and said he had difficulty staying in the lane of travel and crossed the center divider several times before a stop was initiated.
Further, the police stated, “There was an obvious odor consistent with alcoholic beverage coming from the defendant as well as red bloodshot and watery eyes,” the report said. “There were two empty beers in the vehicle next to the driver. The defendant had difficulty retrieving his id and attempted to give a credit card and passport instead while his driver’s license sat on his lap.”
Sam Hunt was alone in the car and admitted the charges of being drunk while driving. The sobriety test recorded a blood alcohol content of 0.173.
The singer was taken to Metro jail around 6.30 a.m. and released from jail at 9 a.m. on a $2500 bond. A court date has been set for 17th January 2020.
